Janice de Lima
“Color is life.”
I was born in St. Lucia on December 16, 1954, and my family migrated to Trinidad in 1963. I attended Holy Name Convent, Port of Spain, where I developed a love for art. I later received a diploma in Creative Arts from the University of the West Indies, with a speciality in advertising.
I worked for several years with Lonsdale Advertising and McCann-Erickson as a creative writer. After having my children, I made a decision to be a stay-at-home mother. I did not pick up a paint brush again until my youngest child left to pursue her master's degree about ten years ago.
I have since renewed my love for art and I paint on a weekly basis. My mediums are acrylic and watercolour. My preferred subjects tend to be space, the universe, and the ocean.
I have had one small private exhibition where I sold a few pieces, and I have attended the Green Market as an art vendor. Several works have since sold privately.
