Acrylic on 18" × 18" stretched canvas. 2026.
From the artist:
This started from a piece from 2023 that I wasn't happy with — I didn't have new blank canvases but really wanted to paint. Reworking old work has great benefits: courage, honesty, belief in self.
I chose what to paint over, what to add, how to add it (what tools to use), what shapes to make, what colours to use — trusting myself. I tried to be as intuitive, as natural as I could be. I love working like this.
It is polar opposite to getting a Math problem in differentiation or integration right or wrong — which I did well at in school. That has a particular stress associated with it — at least through my eyes and for my heart and brain. In Math, right or wrong applies, but in art I get to decide what is right — and that I love. It is a freedom I relish!
